Dear Mr. President, have you forgotten?

Every year we say, “Never forget.” This year I ask, “Have you forgotten?”

9/11. Enough said.

That date is etched in our memory – and our hearts.

2976* human beings murdered. People like you and me. People who had plans that evening. People who had families, friends and loved ones. People who never expected to die that day in such a horrific and brutal manner.

4 Ways to Jumpstart Adding some Spice to Your Life.

“Maybe she hung out with them, but doesn’t mean she was like them.”

My father has come a long way. He has most certainly evolved. I’m starting to think that maybe I did raise him well.

As I said ….

Improvement of my communication skills is a continuous endeavor.  Sometimes I succeed, and sometimes I fall short – way short.

The latter is not intentional. It may be a slip of the tongue, nerves that opened my mouth before my head put on the brakes or a professional tone or inflection that is perceived as arrogant, condescending and pompous.  Continue reading “As I said ….”

A moment of silence. A moment of prayer.

I’m a news junkie.  I’m an independent mind who follows politics. I’m a free thinker and a free spirit who listens to all sides, researches information, gets educated and weighs all facts before forming an opinion – and that opinion is subject to change as more information is received and processed.

I’m an American with a deep love and commitment to my country – despite any leadership that is in place – past, present or future.  I’m proud to be an American and always will be – even if I’m ashamed and disgusted by what’s transpiring in our country today, or any day.

This is not a political post. This is not a religious, cultural, racial or gender identity post.  Continue reading “A moment of silence. A moment of prayer.”

At what point does self-interest become selfishness?

“This chapter in my life is all about me.  I’m done losing myself to others.”

The self-improvement, self-development and self-growth movement is all around us.

People have had it with being taken advantage of, saying yes at their own expense and are now, somewhat, rebelling.

They will not say yes so quickly. They will establish firm boundaries.  They will do what’s good for them. To hell with everyone else. Continue reading “At what point does self-interest become selfishness?”

Don’t worry. Be happy.

Why do we worry? Why do we tie our stomach up in knots and carry the weight of the world on our shoulders?

Most things work themselves out in time – or not. But worrying isn’t going to impact the outcome one way or the other. The only sure thing worry will do is rob you of precious moments that you will never get back.

3 Tips to Help You Disconnect in a 24-hour Virtual World

“Don’t call me, I’ll call you.”

Many of us have tossed that saying around from time to time, most often in humor, but quite possibly with complete conviction.

There have always been those who obsessively called others, those who love to talk – or be heard – on the phone.  Those who need to fill every moment of silence with something – anything – to feel good.

Once upon a lifetime ago, we were only subject to this at home.  Long before cell phones, we had this thing called a landline. Continue reading “3 Tips to Help You Disconnect in a 24-hour Virtual World”

Forever a part of me.

In honor and memory of our dearest and closest friend, Barbara Leonardi. We love you.

I learned this morning what it was like to lose your best friend.

To awake to the hard, cold fact that you’ll never see her again. That you’ll never hear her voice on the other end of the receiver, with her warm greeting that we share, “Hello, my friend.”

Music to my ears.

As far back as I can remember, music has filled the air that I breathe. Music of all genres from vastly diverse decades and eras.

My family would sing along with the lyrics or hum to the beat, sometimes in tune but more often than not, way off key. Our fingers would be snapping, toes a tapping and dancing about could, and usually would, inevitably ensue.
