This morning, I heard a lovely sound coming in through my windows. The melody was happy and hopeful, with an upbeat tune that made me eager to start the day.
A touch of spring is in the air here in New England, a reminder that a new season is fast approaching. Maybe too quickly for people like me who love the winter, and most likely not fast enough for those who crave the warmer months.
It’s a tease. A hint. A preview of what’s to come. But what it reminded me of as I awoke this morning, was the simple pleasures we all too often overlook in our day to day.
I have missed the birds singing and I relish in change, finding joy in the seasonal and life cycles, that remind us that nothing lasts forever. It also reminds us to cherish the moment – and trust that our troubles will pass.
Take a moment today to listen to the birds chirp, the water dripping as the ice melts and open your heart to all that is – and all that is to come.
