Writing is my passion and has been since I was a child. My mother still has some of the ridiculously imaginative, and silly, letters I’d crafted long ago – along with poems, essays and my first published pieces. Writing has been my one true love and she stood by me, even when I paid her little attention and veered off course.
Two years ago, I committed to this blog and it has adhered to it’s promise: Daily thoughts. Points to ponder. Soulful reflections.
Most posts are not polished or publication worthy. That was never my intention.
My intention is to share what is on my mind, or in my heart, with the hope that my essays would touch a reader, making them feel less alone – that someone out here in the world shares like thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
My intention is to bare my soul and document experiences, so others will feel confident in doing the same.
You may not agree with some of what I write, and that’s great.
Let’s discuss, communicate, and exchange viewpoints. I not only welcome that, but I WANT it! No matter what your comment or feedback, I will respond respectfully.
Disagree with me!
And that brings me to the intention of this post – engagement.
No, not the kind that entails diamond rings and wedding bells, though it will result in commitment – a commitment to yourself.
You will take vows – vows of authenticity, sincerity and humility. But I warn you – that may lead to happily ever after, no matter what life throws your way. Happiness will be replaced with peace, tranquility, and serenity. As we evolve, we come to realize those three states of being are, happiness.
Thank you to those who email and text. Thank you to those that took advantage of Ask Pennwell back in the day.
So – help me, help you.
What would you like to read about? What topics? Current events? Relationships? Self-growth? Aging? Beauty? Food issues? Leadership? Work? Travel? Family, friends?
I’m not looking for a fan club or aiming to reach millions of followers – but I am looking to engage those who are here and more importantly, write on topics that touch your souls.
So much gets lost on social media. I see fewer and fewer people participating these days – more, taking breaks.
Publishers left and right ask, “What is your social standing? How many followers do you have?”
I was published and recognized back in the 80s and 90s, before social media existed. And if I were only seeking notoriety, those were the days.
Today, attention span has decreased to almost none and writers are forced to employ publicity tactics to engage readers.
Exhausting. It zaps the energy from writers who only want to make a difference. That’s what I want.
My book is in the works, however, I want to engage with you, here and now – and long after. But of course I’ll also want you to get the book! More info to come …
