I’m thrilled that you are here! Together we will journey through a variety of topics – from the most simple to the most controversial – but more importantly, we will journey through the complexities of the human condition. My aim is to take a closer look at specific experiences and events, ask questions when warranted and seeking answers – or at least find some accepting ground on which to stand. For me, writing requires quiet reflection and soulful exploration in which I can sift through my thoughts and emotions, sometimes finding clarity and sometimes leading to the discovery that the simple act of jotting thoughts down is cathartic in itself.
When I am in the throes of writing, it carries through to my daily life. Writing grounds me. Writing is where I seek to quiet my mind, even when crafting a piece on the most complex, sensitive or heated topic. Writing is how I heal my heart, no matter how painful the process may be. Writing is where I feel most at home. And writing is where I find happiness, peace and hope. Anger dissipates as situations become more clear. Hurt paves the way for healing as I release my most conflicting and difficult feelings. The honesty is raw, exposing the most fragile parts of myself. Ego just doesn’t exist and only humility remains. My curiosity is heightened and there seems to be an almost innate fascination in even the smallest of wonders. Photographers see the world through a special lens – pun intended – and writers experience the world through stories. When you experience life from this viewpoint, you will find there is a story to be found in everything.
There is but one goal for this blog – to open minds and hearts, support others in finding their voice and to encourage them to approach life from an inquisitive, introspective and interesting perspective.
I ask that everyone be respectful – no hatred, profanity or ugly of any kind. Have I resorted to that when emotional, angered and provoked – yes! Not throwing stones! But I continue to learn and each day strive to be a better version of myself. That’s not easy. Admitting shortcomings and figuring out how to manage those is a continuous challenge. But I’m up for it. And I hope that you are, too. We need more of this – our world as it stands today is filled with selfishness and hate. Bring on the compassion, but don’t stop standing for what you believe in or cowering to those who bully you into only doing and being who they want you to be. We can express ourselves in a fair and considerate manner – and still get our points across, which leads me to the close of this welcome note.
Let’s share ideas, viewpoints and experiences in a safe, supportive and friendly online environment. Disagreements should be addressed respectfully and with the goal of clearly and kindly communicating your thoughts. Are you ready? I am! And I’m excited to share this blog with all of you.
