The Golden Rule – Not so Golden Anymore.

How often do you recall being told to treat others as you would want to be treated? The Golden Rule – which isn’t so golden anymore.

Each person has his or her beliefs, values, and morals. If mine contradict theirs, why would they want me treating them in the same way?

I’m excited for my next ‘On Your Best Behavior’ column when I’ll address this topic.

Each of us should make the time to listen to people. To listen – watch, observe, and interact enough to determine who they are, what they want, and how we can make certain they are respected. This is not an easy feat, yet it is possible.

Not every person wants to be treated as I would. And yes – it can be tiring to figure out what each person wants, but I believe it is also worth it.

More to come. This is your daily reflection, point to ponder, and soulful reflection.
