Smile when you speak.

It’s been said that people can sense when you’re smiling as you speak. They can sense and absorb your joy, passion, and happiness. Your enthusiasm to tackle anything – no matter how difficult, is infectious.

I am always taken back when people chuckle when I’m talking with them. They don’t expect reason, rationale, or – joy. They don’t expect to speak with someone who presents themselves as a friend. They seem rather shocked that someone is happy to talk with them – despite the difficulty of the conversation.

This doesn’t equate to being easy or a pushover. I have a high tolerance. A long fuse. A stockpile of patience. Until the moment when I don’t – and it takes a lot.

So start every conversation with a smile – then see where it takes you. You may be pleasantly surprised.
