Anyone who knows me well knows that my passion for lipstick is, quite frankly, out of control!
I’ve been searching for the perfect shade of red forever and recently, I’ve found myself slightly preoccupied with pink. Not just any pink and not too pinky, but just the right hue. Maybe a cross between a red and pink, but not too fluorescent or neon. Subtle, yet powerful. Demure, yet bold.
You get the picture.
So how is it even possible that at this late hour, I’ve just learned that it’s National Lipstick Day?!
In reality, every day is lipstick day for me, but I wanted to share with you some interesting stats* on this magnetic little tube that can change a mood with just one swipe.
Did you know ….
The average amount a woman spends on lipstick in a lifetime is around $1780. Obviously, I am an overachiever.
The most expensive lipstick in the world is approximately $62,000 and weighs in at a whopping 110 grams. Who would have thought?!
80% is the average of American women who wear lipstick regularly and 25% is the average of women who don’t leave home without it. That would be me.
In 1912, feminists painted their lips as a sign of emancipation for the Suffragette movement.
Men stare at red lips for 7.3 seconds in comparison to the 2.2 seconds they stare at bare lips.
And thank you MAC who raised $380 million for HIV/AIDS through the sale of their Viva Glam lipstick line (2015).
Here’s to those beautiful lips that color our world!
