As a child, my family instilled the biblical rule of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Matt. 7:12) and I’d carried it with me throughout my life. It would seem to make sense that if we don’t want to be treated a certain way, then why would we do something like that to someone else?

Today I am grateful for the painful experiences that I’ve had in my life. Without that hurt, there may not have been growth from which strength is derived. I’m grateful for my strength today.
Today I am grateful for my health, no matter how compromised. There are others fighting to live, wanting to walk and severely impacted by illness of some sort. I’m grateful for how I feel today.
Today I am grateful for the days when time doesn’t matter. No meetings, no schedule, no plans. A day just to be and do what I want to do without pressure. I’m grateful for the simplicity of today.
