Why the animosity when someone doesn’t agree with us? Why the anger or upset?
In this heated political climate, most everyone has opinions and they are strong ones. There was a time in life when we were taught not to discuss politics or religion. And maybe they were smarter than we are because people showed civility and respect. Today, there is a tone of discord, bullying and childish retorts.
Could it be that we are sharing our opinions in an attempt to change the minds of others, not just to be heard? Could it be that we want to force others to think like us and believe what we do?
Don’t preach. Stop trying to persuade above all else. Let others come to their own conclusions. And be strong in your convictions without fighting those around you.
It is by forcing your views and fighting for acceptance rather than agreeing to disagree that shatters relationships, divides groups and provokes hatred.
Share respectfully and by doing so, you may just open more minds and allow for a change in perspective.
