What we can learn from Mother Nature.

It was an almost summer like day here in New England. My home would invite you to find the nearest sweater, yet the temperatures outside were warm, beckoning you to shed the layers.

And it’s November, so it got me to thinking, which doesn’t take much. 😉

Whether consciously or unconsciously, we attempt to control everything. We plan our days. We schedule our life. We falsely presume that we navigate what happens in our lives. And to some to degree, that’s true. We can steer the direction.

But like a sailor on the ocean, our best laid plans can be thwarted in an instant. Out of nowhere, we find ourselves in the eye of a storm we didn’t expect. Skies darken. Clouds close in. The wind picks up, wildly whipping around. And what we had planned, is suddenly aborted. We thought we knew what would happen. What came next. Ha.

I had the pleasure of visiting with neighbors this evening and as we discussed life, one said: “Life is a series of unplanned accidents.” Touché.

Because bam – life has other plans. 90% of the time.

Let’s all look toward Mother Nature for guidance. We in New England can certainly relate. If we take into consideration the ebb and flow of weather patterns as well as the moody seasons, we have no control.

No matter what we think, what we plan or what we expect.

For those spiritual: You plan. God laughs. Even if you’re not spiritual, it resonates.

So open your hearts, minds and souls to life. But most importantly – LIVE. Nothing else matters. Don’t let social norms define you. Make your own way. And expect the unexpected. ❤️
